By now, I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “never judge a book by it’s cover.” Well, let me just tell you…I’m guilty of doing it. *raises hand ✋ and lowers head in shame 🙍* I’ll also be the first to admit most books I choose because of the cover, are the ones I enjoy the most! I know what you’re thinking: if you love the books you judged by their cover, why the shame? Well, for the average reader, sure go ahead…enjoy! Me, not so much! There’s more to it than just getting my hands on a “good read.” In the Spring of 2015, I was enrolled in a children’s literature course as part of the requirements to become a certified librarian. The goal of the course: to evaluate books as though I already am a librarian, so that I may choose the best ones for my school library collection. So, here goes! I hope you enjoy reading about my experience evaluating children’s lit – blogging, not judging…ok maybe just a little.
